The Crossbeam X40 is the first high performance, highly available, multi-security engine platform available to enterprise and service provider customers. Highlights of the X40 include:

• Redundant everything, from interfaces and application processors to fans, power supplies, and backplanes
• Single application (e.g. high-performance FW) or integrated multi-application deployment models (e.g. FW+IDS+AV+URL Filtering)
• The industry’s first "Flow Sequencing" feature allows users to define the sequence in which security engines process flows; supports both serialized and parallelized processing
• Integrated patent-pending load balancing and high availability (HA) directly into system software (i.e. no extra cost); HA provides complete application, interface, and hardware protection features

The X40 Security Services Switch

The X40 security services switch is a chassis-based platform that includes Network Processing Modules (NPM), Application Processing Modules (APM), and Control Processing Modules (CPM). The system is built on a super high-speed switching fabric architecture that is comprised of two data switches and two control switches (for separation of user/control traffic, and for complete redundancy).
